  7. PortableManager provides easy creation and use of an application interface to
  8. the Mars Electronics series of portable bar code data collection computers.
  9. There are typically a series of steps such as "unload data," "load new lookup
  10. file," and "restart program" which must be done at least once per more often by
  11. operators to transfer data to a computer and prepare the portable for more data
  12. collection. Usual approaches require the operator to remember and perform a
  13. series of steps which are often confusing and error prone
  14.  
  15. Using PortableManager, a script and menus screen can be created in a matter of
  16. minutes to automate the complete process. There are no complex instructions for
  17. the operator to follow. Users can simply connect the portable to an RS-232 port
  18. and pick a menu item on the computer screen. Protablemanager takes care of the
  19. rest.
